1938 Print Chinese Sage Immortal Ch'u-ping Huang Goat Herder Figures Buson XAC1 XAF8 This is an original 1956This is an original 1938 halftone print of a Japanese screen titled, "Chinese Sages and Immortals," created in the 18th century. The only immortal easily identified is Huang Ch'u ping, located in the first panel. Ch'u ping practiced meditation in the mountains where he lived as a goat herder. When his brother came to visit one day, he commented on the lack of goats. Ch'u ping touched a nearby rock with his staff, and it turned into a goat. Period
